Learn More About Springfield and Immigration

After the presidential debate, conversations about immigrants in the U.S. have flooded headlines, especially Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Gov. Dewine has stepped up and totally refuted the claims while adding that they are here legally.

  • Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS): independent non-profit organization in Central Ohio that receives and places refugees and offers support including but not limited to English classes, employment training and placement, health and wellness groups, youth mentorship, family support, advocacy for victims of crime, and legal services. 

  • Haitian Community Help & Support Center (HCSHC): a Springfield non-profit organization that help orient Haitian immigrants into the community as well as offers social clubs for young people to ask questions and find resources. 

  • Ohio Access to Justice Foundation: a non-profit organization based in Columbus that supports Ohioans who struggle to make ends meet, particularly those who need legal aid and funding resources. Read here how the organization worked with Haitian immigrants of Ohio.
