Advocacy & Education
We know that hunger and food systems touch all our lives. We work hard to share policy updates, community events, and ways to learn and engage in this work.
We also offer structured discussions and engaging presentations for businesses, schools, churches and community groups.
Racial Wealth Gap Simulation
In the United States, hunger is caused by poverty. To comprehend poverty, we must first understand the racial disparities that exist in our society and how these disparities underline much of the poverty in America. The Racial Wealth Gap Simulation, using materials designed by Bread for the World, is an invaluable group learning tool offered by the Hall Hunger Initiative.
In the Simulation, you will be guided through a fact-based exercise, providing specific examples of policies and their consequences. HHI facilitators add local information about the impact of racism in our community today. Guided conversation offers participants an opportunity for discussion and questions.
Food Justice
Hunger and equity in the food system touch so many of us daily. Understanding the root causes of hunger is an important first step towards ending it. Learning more about issues around hunger helps our daily lives through better nutrition, accessing local foods, creating jobs, and boosting the economy. Hall Hunger Initiative and many of our experienced partners are eager to share data, lived experiences, and history around the Miami Valley Food system development.
Ambassador Tony Hall also shares his decades of experience when scheduling permits.
